Thanks for visiting our website! We hope you enjoy your time here with us and find useful and interesting information as well as high quality genetics for your dairy goat breeding program. Our farm is located in Millersburg, Pennsylvania, nestled in a valley among the Appalachian mountains. We began breeding and raising dairy goats in 1993, starting with 2 Nubians. In 1996 we added the Anatolian Shepherd breed of livestock guardian dog to the farm, and in 1998 purchased our first Saanens. Our focus in our breeding program is on breeding animals that excell in general appearance, longevity, and consistency. We put a high emphasis on complete package animals that function efficiently and can live productive, healthy lives. Animals with strong general appearance, long flat bone patterns, and well attached, capacious mammary systems with high, wide rear udder profiles comprise the backbone of our breeding program.
We also maintain a high standard of herd health and use various biosecurity methods to ensure the continued safety of our animals. In addition, our dairy goat herd has tested negative each year for Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE) through Washington State University. We attribute our success in herd health to the strict disease prevention we practice, and bringing in select animals from other reputable herds. All kids are raised on CAE prevention. Our herd has enjoyed considerable success in show rings throughout the Mid-Atlantic region over the years. Among the many finished champions residing in our herd, one of the most notable is GCH Shepherd's Crook Stylyst Eve 1*M EX90 EEEE. Her best show season was in 2001, when she was Best Doe in Show several times over some of the toughest competition on the East Coast, including several National Champion animals. She was practically undefeated for Best of Breed and Best Udder, and wrapped up her year by winning Grand Champion at the Maryland State Fair. Now added to that list of accomplishments is her 3 year old daughter Magpie's linear score of 90 EVVE this year, carrying on the tradition of excellence! We are very proud of her!
We attend about 12-14 competitive shows each year, usually with a show string of 10-15 animals. In 2002 we wrapped up another successful season, with many Grand Champion and Best of Breed wins. Among these wins we had Grand Champion at the PA State Fair, Best of Breed, and Best Udder. Our Dam & Daughter with Epicode and GCH Final Search was undefeated the entire year, including the PA State Farm Show, PA State Fair, and the District 3 Nubian Specialty. The Produce of Dam for GCH Final Search was also undefeated the entire year, and our Dairy Herd was 1st at several prestigious shows. We went to the District 2 Saanen Specialty, and the District 3 Nubian Specialty and did extremely well at both. In addition, we had a very rewarding linear appraisal session, with several animals going Excellent. Our herd average for all animals appraised was 87. We continue to participate in DHIR testing, and are currently on standard test. We had several All American animals last year, and plan to enter more for this year. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. The success of our animals in other breeder's herds is one of our greatest happinesses so we look forward to working with you to add one of our show-winning animals to your herd! |
